mom wants me to not report the contractors to the licensing board, IF they would pay our damages.  she said I am just like dad, wanting to bring matters to court. 

I was furious about this comparison.

she said using a Chinese proverb, "if you encounter an opportunity to forgive people, forgive!"  and "don't be a whistle blower, let other people find out." 

I told her, if a teacher sleeps a kid, no mother is going to say "forgive" or "let other parents find out!" 

she said, it's not the same, because it creates bodily harm, in this case, NOT.
